Ah yes on yours I think it's on the back of the engine on the bell housing somewhere

On my old one it's in a very civilised place just under the thermostat housing

I'm jacking the car up tomorrow and using axle stands

So is this sort of "on top of the gearbox" kind of area?

Alex i'll take a pic of mine tomorrow if you haven't found it before hand but the CPS is not very big & is at 12 o'clock position on the top of bell housing you can just see it from the N/S but the cable go's to the O/S & plugs into a wiring harness back from the dip stick i'm sure it's a grey plug but IIRC the CPS wire is the only wire coming from behind the head on that side

Thanks dude, so it's dead above at the rear of the engine. Everything is gonna get a clean so fingers crossed. I don't suppose there is a way to clean the egr without difficult dismantling?

Yes right on the top of bellhousing on the gearbox TBH bit of a pig to see but you should be able to feel the wiring from it via the O/S are the wiring comes around by the EGR to a small bracket on the head IIRC. I took the vac pipe off my EGR & squirted a tone of WD40 into the pipe fitting on the EGR in the hope it would soak down & free & clean things up as my Dad was able to free up his sticking EGR with 3 in 1 oil on his astra then I shoved a ball bearing in the vac pipe. Don't know if I had a prob with my EGR or not but at least know it's out of action now

Hmmmm, if I can safely get my hand on it (not bloody likely) I will also squirt away. Buy as everyone says, I best not go too mad

My money is on egr valve personally.

Alex run off out and buy your self a digital multimeter you'll find it useful for all kinds of jobs pal.

I have just spent the last 2 hours truck washing the engine bay and tried to get my hand near the bell housing but can't see this sensor

I am leaning on the road tho... Using axle stands..
