T2 SWB commercial - raised roof
Finally gotten around to taking some pictures of my T2 - 1997 2.7tdi, SWB commercial van conversion with raised roof.
This is a picture made by the previous owner: With resprayed bumpers, in its natural habitat: And now for the interior, with my best mate who is helping out all the time: Previous owner was shooting as well, and built a tool/gun box in the back. Bottom drawer currently holds spare clothes, raincoat, tools etc. Top drawer is padded for guns, and can be locked. The bag holds pheasant food And now the raised roof from the inside: Work done so far on the car: a thorough interior cleaning (wasn't cleaned for at least 10 years), radio installed, engine oil changed, bumpers and wheel arch outside plastic resprayed, missing rear bump stop installed, intercooler cleaned, loose dashboard parts fixed. On the to do list: respray roof and left side front wing, renew wheel arch liners, renew other oils, redo brakes, install missing roof antenna, install parking sensors or rear view camera, new wheels/tyres. And find more money for all of the above, somehow. |

Looks good.
You see those roof conversions all the time in Holland... something about increasing the capacity, so they fit into the correct CC to be classed as a commercial van, rather than a car with no windows. |

I imported this one from The Netherlands, indeed. As far as I know, I'm the 3rd owner.

That raised roof is interesting. Has it retained mounting points for a roof rack?

Unfortunately, no mounting points for roof rack!
As far as I can see it is some short of double glassfiber shell, empty space between the inner and outer shell. Drilled a few holes in the back of the inner shell, to be able to fix a better interior light. Shell seems to be about 3mm thick. |

Bit harsh mate!!!!
Each to their own, it may be more practical for him as he shoots, have you ever tried to sit in the back of a Maverick/Terrano with no seats in in the boot area? I admit I don't like the overall shape to the vehicle now

That's not very nice standard T2 roof isn't very strong anyway in the centre all strength is at the edges & fibre glass can be very strong hence the reason some top notch sport cars & made from the stuff aswell as power boats
