2stroke in diesel mix

helli I read on another fourm some one was mixing 2stroke in with there diesel 1 parts oil to 150 fuel, it didn't say why he was doing it tho? just wondering if anyone knows what the reason for him doing this was? are there any advantages?

oh I got told you're ment to declare using and if you had your tank dipped with out doing so you'd be getting a fine that's the only reason I've not bothered yet, vosa are regularly on the a16 and I use the road daily

I stick 2 stroke in my diesel at a ratio of 200:1, it's meant to help add back some of the lubrication properties that were lost when they took out the sulphur.

I'm convinced it makes the engine run smoother. It also MAY also give you a few more mpg but I'm not sure on that one

It's perfectly legal with no declarations up to 2500 litres a year, and more and the whole lot must be declared.

The dipping you are referring to is red diesel.

Let's face it you don't need to dip for veggie, just smell the BBQ

Like the idea of two stroke oil as a lubricant but surely veg oil will do the same, always made my engine run smoother and quieter.

i used red low soot 2 stroke oil in my vectra 1.9 diesel and it transformed the sound of the engine within 50 miles of driving. really quietened the engine/pump. not using it in terrano as i run veggie too. mike.

Probably Jim, but not all engines are keen on veg (the 3.0 is apparently one that isn't). I see the original post was about a 2.7 though, so go for it bud

200:1 ratio would be somewhere around 350ml to 75L

last time I had my tank dipped they had shut the road, pulling every car over and checking insurance, tax and mot, if you had I derv you got dipped, no if's of but's, if they found cherry you was walking, I've never ran veg before because I couldn't be arse with the hassle it would cause if they decided to do that again, now I know you're a loud to use 2500L a year i might start, im doing a tank a week in the t2 so should save a pretty penny

I've been dipped once since I've had the Maverick and the dumb copper told me I was using red and it took me 20 mins to explain to him that it was Waste Veg that had been filtered and mixed with Diesel lol

They had it tested at the side of the road by a VOSA car (Ford Galaxy) and they sent me on my way
