I had a basic look under the seats for any wires but couldnt see much are they under the carpet ? under the passenger seat theres a sort of metal box with some wires inside is air bag wirering anything to do with this ? I tried the door switch trick a couple more times but it just seems to put it into diagnostic mode.

Thanks, I will get that full membership soon as I can see this is a very helpful place to be and being a new Terrano owner of a certain age (car not me) I will have plenty more questions.

I popped into TSW today as I had to go to Bexhill, they are fairly busy but I'm booked in for next Thursday, I mentioned another satisfied Terrano owner put me onto them, I will let you know how I get on.

I have had this problem on mine and found the ignition switch method works for me.
I have had it on other cars too and found if you undo the plugs under the seats and give them a good clean, then put them back together, it sometimes knocks the airbag light out.
It may work for you
