My Baby Girl - Update
well we went to birmingham today and we saw robynns liver specialist, he is concerned about how jaundiced she is, so they are starting her on a course of steroids, in 2 weeks she will have some blood tests and if things haven't improved we have to go back to birmingham to discuss a liver transplant, if there is improvement she will continue on the steroids for 2 months and we will see where it goes from there either way we think a transplant will be sometime soon

I was waiting to find out how it went....
Looks like the decision on when she has to be operated on has been taken out of your hands... Lets just hope for a perfect doner ASAP. Fingers crossed. |

its funny you should say that m8y, in wales they are bringing in an opt out system next year, so if you don't opt out you automatically become a donor when you die. thankyou everyone for your well wishes, we think it would be better for her to have it done now while she's young as her recovery time will be a lot quicker, the operation can take 8hrs and then weeks in the hospital after for recovery, also the hospital are putting a claim in for us for disbility living thingy for robynn, its something we have never thought of but if we do get it the extra money will help with the extra visits to birmingham and in between those visits we have to goto cardiff, so now i have a mission to get the truck in tip top condition ready for when the day arrives |

Difficult subject this as religion seems to come in to it, so I will just state what I think, once you re dead you have no need of your body so I say put it up for those that need any bits that are useful, I cannot see whatever religion you are that this would make any difference, your body is just a husk that is now gone spirits and all that malarkey I leave to you all, Rick

Yeah best of luck, its a heart wrenching time when one of your kids are ill.No matter how old they are.
As for donating bits of your body when its of no use to you.(Bit like recycling a old truck,to keep another going) |

Thoughts are with you bud, just keep positive! Re the "opt-out" scheme, should be rolled out across the country - I totally agree with Ricks' sentiments, when we're gone our bodies are of no use to us, so it seems criminal that the parts that could save other peoples' lives are simply buried or cremated.
