Hi grant, welcome, you will see many posts from me over the past month, I am a noobie and had the same questions but with new veg oil.

Mine is running currently on 40l of ktc veg oil (new at 79p a litre)

And 3.8 litres of petrol (to thin the mix)

In a post i made last night i posted up interesting mixing facts and gelling points of different fluids. Veg oil goes into a gel at 0 degrees so a spirit or petrol must be added to make the gelling point way below freezing and to thin the mixture.

I also shake my truck every morning before I get in

She smells wicked and I have no performance difference what so ever.
Nor have I had to change the fuel filter (i believe you do on used veg oil though)

Chuck some in and give it a go, you wont go back

Also as you will find here fixing your terrano is practically free when you join up on the forum, the guys here and the knowledge available is better an the dealerships (not to mention the care too) oh god I'm getting all emotional again

Run mine on bio all summer and its been fine, put 40 ltr KTC in this week mixed with 40ltr diesel, runs ok when warm but low on power and really struggling to start!! Put new glow plugs in and no change. Be careful it might catch you out!!

Oh crap

There's plenty of sill weld bits on the forums too, let's hope it's not the one in that showroom we spotted recently

But yeah, generally they are great trucks with loads of available mods and virtually indestructible. I spoke to two taxi drivers with same engine, one said two engines went past 1 million miles and one driver personally had over 540,000 miles

Elaborate on "slow at starting" is it turning over slow or turning over at normal speed and just not firing?

test each glow plug simple continuity test will do or remove and connect across you battery via jump leads each plug should GLOW in seconds. maybe remove the starter motor and clean it up they do suffer on these big engines finnally check your earths
