Not new - Patrol info needed for mag feature
Hi folks
Hope all is well. I'm writing a feature for a non-4x4 car magazine on the Nissan Patrol Y61, possibly covering the Y60 too. I was wondering if there were any experts/specialists it might be worth me talking to? It's a general buyer's guide but with some ownership information - ie jobs that might need doing during ownership such as clutch changes etc. Any help will be much appreciated. My email address is yan2cv@yahoo.co.uk Cheers Ian |

Crikey. It's December now and I'm still working on it! Alan 'Spinna' was very helpful when I spoke to him earlier in the year, but I still need some help - especially with specifications!
The main thing I'm trying to tie down is when the Y60 went from 4.2 to 2.8TD. Was there any overlap between the two engines? This guide is for publication in January, so only a year after I started on it! |

This is spooky I was only thinking about this article earlier today.
I will have a look through my brochure's to see if we missed something relating to engines. |

So far, I've found a new car price listing in a 1994 copy of Autocar showing that the Patrol was still available in 4.2-litre form with no mention of the 2.8 (non-GR excepting - I'm not covering the leafers in this guide). So, some point after that then!
Confusingly, another price list show the SLX available as a five-door. I though SLX indicated three-door, and SGX five-door. Anyone know if many petrol Patrols survive too? |

Not that simple to answer I'm afraid... UK Y60 (GR) SWB were always 4.2 as far as I'm aware. LWB's originally imported from Japan with 4.2NA until the Spain plant got up and running and pumped out 2.8TD. But then there was stock of 4.2 in the UK, so they were available for some time... So no specific date.... sorry. I imported a 4.2 from Cyprus coz I didn't want the 2.8TD, plus I wanted a high roof...never sold new here in the UK by Nissan.
