life goals

I'm sure we've all got one or even more my goals in life are to pass my driving test, get a girlfriend and own a Volvo 240 and Y61 patrol

So what's youres

My lifetime ambition over the years has varied,going to Alaska was one,making sure wife and kids were ok,another,these days it's hoping I can walk again after having the flu at Christmas i kept falling over, had m r i scan and various others inc lumbar puncture,they still don't know what it is,so impossible to drive either terrano,one is sorned lucky i had just finished refurbing them before i stopped walking,and i used to walk miles, but heyho,it gives me more time to spend on laptop and the forum.

This may more be the answer for some people wishing to have more.
A boat docked in a tiny Mexican fishing village.

A tourist complimented the local fishermen
on the quality of their fish and asked
how long it took him to catch them.

"Not very long." they answered in unison.

"Why didn't you stay out longer and catch more?"

The fishermen explained that their small catches were
sufficient to meet their needs and those of their families.


"But what do you do with the rest of your time?"


"We sleep late, fish a little, play with our children,
and take siestas with our wives.
In the evenings, we go into the village to see our friends, have a few drinks, play the guitar, and sing a few songs.


We have a full life."

The tourist interrupted,


"I have an MBA from Harvard and I can help you!
You should start by fishing longer every day.
You can then sell the extra fish you catch.
With the extra revenue, you can buy a bigger boat."


"And after that?"

"With the extra money the larger boat will bring,
you can buy a second one and a third one
and so on until you have an entire fleet of trawlers.
Instead of selling your fish to a middle man,
you can then negotiate directly with the processing plants
and maybe even open your own plant.


You can then leave this little village and move to Mexico City , Los Angeles , or even New York City !

From there you can direct your huge new enterprise."

"How long would that take?"

"Twenty, perhaps twenty-five years." replied the tourist.

"And after that?"

"Afterwards? Well my friend, that's when it gets really interesting, " answered the tourist, laughing. "When your business gets really big, you can start buying and selling stocks and make millions!"

"Millions? Really? And after that?" asked the fishermen.





"After that you'll be able to retire,
live in a tiny village near the coast,
sleep late, play with your children,
catch a few fish, take a siesta with your wife
and spend your evenings drinking and enjoying your friends."

"With all due respect sir, but that's exactly what we are doing now. So what's the point wasting twenty-five years?" asked the Mexicans.

And the moral of this story is:



Know where you're going in life....
you may already be there!

Also a good choice... might have to curb the spending on the car mods once you do though ... maybe not if you get stuck into a certain polish lass we've all been hearing about though


Anyway, goals short term are to to get through all 3 Spartan Races before the year's out (5km, 12km and 20km); get Foxy modded up for the tour in 2015; and do bags more greenlaning (definitely want to go back to Wales)

Longer term, find a nice looking lass, who likes the farming side of my life, to settle down with and have a family (thats gonna be a while yet as I'm enjoying not having another half far too much at the moment!); rebuild the flock in a few years time (dispersal is happening in September due to my Grandad's health ) and eventually get to the stage where I can stop the legal work and farm full time

Nice, I dunno about zenka yet, how mixed feelings, you need to get upto Scotland, seriously, in this area, theirs loads of equestrian/farming women my friand Gail, she's single and buys/raises sheepz

my lifes ambitions were... sing in a band, get layed lots, do lots of drugs.. done,
now i am settled with kids.... provide for them, bit boring i know, got childhood dream job(except the steam!!) train driving! kids happy and we have a nice size garden for these days standards, loving it!

like most on here, ive already got what I always wanted. someone who loves me and who I can love back. I have someone who puts up with me, which is important because we aren't all perfect and if you can find the right person, who doesn't drop you at the first problem then you've made it.

as for "stuff" well I got my house, always wanted my own home. decent sized gardens, shed, room to play. I was always creative when I was younger, and I always wanted to do special effects for films. I sort of achieved that in my early twenties but life was a bitch and took it away from me. well, im working hard to earn the money to buy the kit I need to get my creativity back, so my new goals are:

Get a terrano (lol)
New DSLR camera
Astrotelescope
New computer for rendering CGI animations and stills (the stuff I used to do).

that's pretty much it, Im very happy with my job, very happy with my home and my partner (plenty of other crap going on to trying and ruin it all though). I just want my partner to be happy, and pay off my mortgage and have some holidays - slowly life is coming together, but its been hard work so far.
