progress ?

some of you will know I have been advised to move from my current house because its unsuitable ( I keep falling down stairs etc ) , so ive been on the council waiting list for some time .

recently I was given priority status after yet another fall ,
well I now have the head of housing on my side , and she has put me down for a lovely bungalow in the shelf area of Halifax ( its really nice ..... and ideal for radio

)

Sheila isn't too impressed cos its a bit isolated and quite some distance from shops / buses , but we are going to take a look around the area today .

we wont know if weve got it until next Monday .

cross ya fingers / legs etc chaps and chapesses

dare I dream of progress being made ?

I have a problem with falling down stairs but i blame it on the water or toys left strewn around

, it has open fields to 2 sides and is at the end of a cul de sac ..... looks lovely on the photo , its just below queensbury , so very high up ..... ideal for radio , but also not good for bad weather because its exposed to it

Best of luck Pete, hope Sheila likes the place. Trouble is I guess if you refuse too many the authorities may not take too kindly. Keep your freezer well stocked and you'll be fine for the winter weather. Surely there will be a local shop nearby too. It does catch the weather up there but as you say nice for radio, you may get a small antenna outside too and you'll have loads of access to helpers for that.

Good luck...

As said, most supermarkets deliver now, just keep a small reserve in the freezer. As for the rest, it just makes popping to the shops more of an occasion, where instead of going several times a week/month, and wasting all that travelling time, you cut down to just a couple of times a month and make a day of it, even stopping for a bite at a little cafe for lunch. Somehow it feels far more relaxed, and free's up so much more time to enjoy yourself.

As for doctors, if yours are anything like ours down here, they do sod all, and you can't get an appointment for 3 weeks anyway. Even when we have managed to get an emergency appointment, they have then just told my wife she should have called an ambulance several hours earlier, and packed her off to hospital, so we could have saved time, worry, and mileage by just going there in the first place.

Sounds nice Briggie, what are the buses like, some villages do suffer with poor time tables/services and just remember that exposed homes in the winter do suffer, see if the council have insulated it well, if so, add some more.

bus service is diabolical , not really an option unless you walk a fair distance ( which I cant ) , so a reliable vehicle is essential

Pete, not sure of your age (rude to ask and all that) but if your moving to a bungalow because your clocking on a bit, a good bus service will be invaluable, if you ever find you have a problem driving, just a thought.

thats nearly as high up as where I work at over 1000 feet in werrington stoke on trent (google it I dont know exact hight)cleaning windows

its deffo got its own climate from the bottom of the bank where I live.
as for living isolated you lucky git, I would love it the less neigbours the better, I think ive spoke to my next door bloke about 4 times in 2 years.
and besides your motor will get you anywhere.
