Might Sell, what are your thoughts?
hi guys,
before I make a final decision, and post an advert, I want to know what you guys think. Due to us selling the caravan, and money being a smidge tight, I am entertaining the idea of selling the Maverick. The MOT is due in February, and I dont want any expense from that as my Fiat is due in February as well. I am trying to think of its worth. so, im trying to think up all negatives. So far, i have got: both front wings rusty and in need of repair. off side seat belt mount MIGHT need welding soon. Both rear sills need tidying, maybe welding. rear door seems to knock. scratches and marks all round, no major dents though. mark on wind screen. dirty inside-its been my work horse. ok, thats the bad stuff. The good stuff are: "new" wheels and tyres, very good condition and as new almost! Car drives faultless, i have a lot of history in this club, and a lot of the work i have done is listed. LOADS of new parts have gone into bringing it up to good running order, I have done the No1 injector, CKP sensor, air filter (K&N), fuel filter twice a year, new starter, new starter cable and clamps, new earth straps, new solenoids, EGR blanked (still need to do the butterfly wotsit). Intercooler removed and cleaned, new coolent, fresh oil recently, fresh LSD oil. Car drives spot on, brakes and handbrake work perfect. Electric windows work, sunroof, lights all that sort of stuff, car goes into gear no problem and 4x4 works as it should. so, what do you guys think? |

500-800 quid i think its worth and with the mot fast looming that will go against it
At the end of the day you sometimes have to cut the emotional ties and get rid Does it get used every day if not its swollowing cash to sit on your drive A buyer will only look at your list of negatives to drive your price down At the end of the day its an old oil burner Just my thoughts Happy new year |

cheers Spider, to be honest, your thoughts are the same as mine mate. I like to list the negatives, because, well, they are pretty obvious anyway, so no point beating about the bush, i prefer honesty, im not a business man, end of the day, i sell it for what i want to get for it. until then, it can sit on my drive, no MOT, no insurance if needs be.
£800 is what i am looking for, I just spent £200 on new wheels and tyres (well, not new, but certainly a lot better than what was on!) and although it doesnt get driven everyday, it gets driven regular especially at weekends when im working on stuff. I think its well worth it, despite the jobs that need doing. |

yes, round here its very hilly, so 4x4s get sold really easily. Im looking to either downsize to a smaller cheaper 4x4 (Jimney) or get a new car project of some sort instead, or invest in some photgraphy and astro telescope equipment, i dunno. just cant justify the costs of the maverick to have it sat there waiting for the snow to come! |

hmm...i was hoping to avoid any furthur cost but yeah, maybe you're right, an MOT will certainly help the sale and buyer confidence.
ill do that, as its only a month away, plus itll give me time to have a bash at tidying the front arches up. |

You can do the MOT a month early and sell with a 13 month MOT if it passes

ok chaps, update on this, and I really need your advice and expertise.
See, I decided i wanted to check a few things over to help in my decision on whether or not to sell. So, I thought id do both front sills, a nice basic repair job. Took the bumper off, took the passenger side front wing off, but theres a fair bit of rust etc, i pretty much expected it, but im not sure what it means in terms of MOT, structural issues and so on. I have attached an album with a few pics. it look like the whole front holding the lights, and rad etc has pretty poor... |
