mine is the older one with a keyboard and it can, do everything you say (including reading to you) and surf the net anywhere you happen to be. What I don't get is how do you enter text (for example a web site address) with no keyboard?

Don't know but is it touch screen so the keyboard would be on the screen might be wrong as I have not seen the new 1.

I'm pleased I resurected this post, thanks for the information.
I saw the Kindle advertised from Amazon at £89, but I didn't know that Tesco also sold them for the same price.

I might as well get one from Tesco and get the club card points.
I'll keep an eye out.
After sale ssrvice at Tesco is .....for example I returned an 11 month old kettle, broken.. no probs here is a new one complete with a new 12 month guarantee.

I'm not sure the screen is a touch screen.
When I had a quick look, the keyboard appears on the screen, and you have to navigate it using the 5 buttons on the pad, which is slow but effective for limited use.

Similar to the old space invader games of the 70's.
