Cool Thinking of Changing The Tug

I am thinking about changing my 2003 Terrano 2.7 LWB. I am torn between either getting another Terrano most likley a 2005, or an Xtrail. I have had my Terrano for 4 years and got it mainly for towing the caravan and must say been well pleased with it great for towing, only had minor problems ie Drop Links, Drive Shaft CV Boots nothing major. A few people I have met on campsites with 2.7 Terrano's have said as long as you change the oil, filter etc they will plod on for ever. Are the 3.0 litre engine as good ?

Can anyone give me advice on the XTrail. I like the look of them but I did hear that they had some problems with engine's on certain years French Engines I think, and to keep away from them. I would be looking for a 2004/5 model.
and again use it to and from work and for towing caravan.

What I want to know
Is the Xtrail as reliable as the Terrano
Are they good for towing
Any common faults

As with all motors they all have there common faults.

Any advice would be appreciated

iv the 3.0 di well what can i say about it ,, 158 BHP and it pulls like a train better on fuel than the 2,7 more power then the 2,7 i love mind to bits now the front prop is alsorted ,, xtrail is better than the 2,7 and 3,0 on fuel as its more of a car ,,

seen xtrails pullying full size twin axles, ok i guess but not
going to the anchor a t2 or patrol would be.

3.0 is good, but bear in mind harder to work on. the stat
is a pig, the head gasket is a 13 hour job versus 7 on the
2.7tdi, but it does pull great.

i do like it but dont think would have another, on nissan
front would go to a late 2.7 t2, and if wanted more power
chip it.

suspect the trols replacement realistically is a land crusiser
or a kia sorrento. they seem to becoming the generic tug
on rally fields now t2 is gone. forget pathfinder too. to much
renault in it.

Sancerre is one of the series 7 pageants

http://www.bailey-caravans.co.uk/ima...re_leaflet.pdf

A normal saloon car, mondeo/vectra/volvo come in around the 80 odd % mark so any xtrail size will hack it although the perenial problem with them at that size is they seem to come in well over 80%.

My mate had an xtrail and he towed a limousin with it. the limousin isnt much heavier than the sancerre and he described the xtrail as " very near its limits" he swapped to a shogun and has never looked back (not literally)
