I've just used mine to buy some paint. As Cnfabs said, its on the VIN plate which is on left side (looking forward) - (or port side if you know your red from your green!) of the bulkhead under the bonnet. At least that's where I found it on my '03 3ltr

Many thanks all, I found the "colour trim" code earlier and cos I did not bother to change my glasses read it as only referring to the trim colour, now I can see it is two separate items "body colour & trim" once again thanks, Rick
