Tragic waste of life, 2 19 yr olds dead.

However it has not yet been determined if the weather was contributory.

Yesterday the Third death in as many days in Yorkshire. Some poor lady gone in to the lake at Pontefract Park. It seems so sad and so needless.

They havent publicly said though they had said that it couldnt be determined if the weather was responsible.

Yes, poor bugger. He is uninjured and when you see the pics the Royal Mail wagon is on the corect side of the road and the corsa is across in front of it. He will have seen the lot.

That was at 6 tonight,the conclusion may have changed by now,

and sadly in Guisbrough today an elderly gentleman died when he crashed into a wall. theyve got loads of snow but the investigation determined the weather was not to blame.

Absolutely no comment on those poor sods today but Ive seen more RTCs that have occured in bad weather and are entirely down to driver error as opposed to the weather, I can think of loads where they would have happened whatever the weather

no not the weather's fault at all the person behind the wheel

do you know which one cause the crash the rm van or the car ?

also got to question speed as well with both car passengers dead, or was it something else that killed them

no i dont know and of course the weather may have been contributory. The pictures on the tv (as tezzers says the road looked pretty clear) remind me of one I was first at where a car driver has lost control and ended up across the front of (ironically) another royal mail van in the middel of a busy junction. all were ok but the scene looked pretty similar to that one and it was entirely the car drivers fault and they were prosecuted.

I remember another at the same junction in the pouring rain where a driver was changing a cassette. He tried to say he skidded as it was raining. Witnesses said no he was definitely looking down and didnt appear to make any effort to miss the traffic lights

feel awful being judgmental, but two young lads in a corsa, snow, speed....i do wonder if they were simply driving too fast, and were too inexperienced...? either way, thoughts go out for the families.

Hate to say that I thought exactly the same thing Clive.

I drove like a complete ar*e for several years after passing my test, thought i was a driving god, and was lucky never to have an accident or bump. I drove a lot of hot hatches too...... perhaps very lucky.....

Reckon it takes a minimum of 5 years, probably 10 to become a decent driver (on the road). Having said that, mileage covered is as important as time. I've always driven a lot of work miles and would instinctively be more trusting of a newish driver that had spent a year or two driving as part of their work than one who just went a mile to work & back each day....

Thoughts to families too. There is nothing sadder than people departing before it's their time to go. No parent should have to see their children pass on...
