If it is the rubber door seals freezing to the door then a good coating of Silicon spray will sort them out.

box of matches to warm the key up? I used to have a mini when i first passed my test, the handle and barrel was exterior on them so the match heated the handle up.
Hot water will only make it worse, you'll free the lock off that once but then later the extra water will freeze. Try a good dose of WD when defrosted and he how you go.

bit late now, but the tip about silicone on the rubber seals is a good one, i do that on my mazda (being frame less they are very hard to open when frozen), wd40 in the lock when you do have the door open and certainly warm the key up first because the lock will most certainly be frozen!

And don't forget guys....having a pee on the lock certainly works
But don't do it in a busy car park.

i use a dry graphite grease spray designed for locks, maplin do it about £1 or something stupid , do it once and you never need do it again.
wd40 washes out the grease from the lock and then you get premature wear further along the time line.
plus if you wask out the grease its easier for water to get into your lock tumblers and freeze, thus creating the problem all over again.
wd40 is great but not for locks in the long run.
