Why not do the opposite and illuminate the lamp from above with a bright light say one of those 150Watt lamps, and vary how close it is to change the brightness.
This should then put the rest of the lamp in the frame, and the depth of field will improve.
Just a thought.
Best regards Rustic

Oh and use a matt dark backgroud as well

Unfortunatley the camera is too clever for its own good , even on the most manual of settings its adjusting what I am trying to focus on and focusing on other items in the field of vision , a photographer from one of the other forums said they would do it for a set of bulbs so that sounds like a winner.

Thanks for attempted help everyone.

Yea I see the problem, but a photograph can only show a white out for brightness so you need to contrast it with something that enphasises the brightness of yours compared to others, so still take the pic from the rear/side/angle, but with the other bulb aimed in the same direction with the beams paralell and show the longer beam of yours, Rick

im not going to get involved in a debate about who is right / wrong , but i feel deeply saddened that a member has chosen to leave this great club

perhaps akin to live by the sword, die by the sword?

This is what happens when members take offense to others
comments and create a bigger issue for themselves down the line.

darwin had blocked daves comments, dave offered genuinely
useful advise, darwin still annoyed, dave pointed out that darwin
was missing out through own choice, darwin took this then as further
attack,

asked to be removed from club.

the end.

I love the dramatic finale...."asked to be removed from the club"...!

Why not just delete the URL and don't come back????

it happens, believe me.

its a shame but its personal choice i guess, i used to get offended when i first joined and dig my heals in being only the 3rd forum i joined and was clueless as to how not everyone gets on .
this particular episode has been niggling for some time , and i think its fair to say from both sides. BUT daved did try to move forward and even offer some valuable advise. and has won my respect on this yet again

often it is too easy to fall in the trap of "oh i dont like him anymore" . and hold a grudge . the trouble is unless your prepared to try, forgive and forget and move forward. it will ruin everyone's enjoyment and not just yours.
i can honestly say , in the time i have been a member some have upset me , but i always try to get on and move forward.

and i would never leave, and let them win

i thought arguments were common part of a forum lol

not every one can agree to dissagree but it is a shame we have lost a member off the site but it is more their loss in the end

Question Darwin v Daved ?

I must be missing the point here what has Darwin done wrong to end in exile?

Do we need to learn a bit from the Yanks on freedom of speech ?
