Default Ford Maverick SWB 2.7 Diesel 'L' Reg

Hi, just discovered site from searching web.
Not mechanically minded so bear with us!
Had my first Maverick (L) a few years back and used it for pulling small tourer. sad to see it go, but bodywork crumbled around a really good motor!
Recently bought another 'L' reg (SWB) as finances restricted due to redundancy!
Really pleased to be driving one again, lovely and comfy but few things I need to get sorted. One being the radio/cassette! Nothing from it at all! Local audio store wanted £35 just to look at it and said it was a common fault with Mavericks, the Amp or similar! Anybody help me with that one?
It is the factory fitted one, RDS 2007 I think from memory!
Anyway, thanks for accepting me on the site - Paul

hey Paul,

might be worth removing it yourself, and checking connections. Mayeb borrow one from someone and fit see if that brings it to life, or perhaps its a fuse (under steering wheel low down i think to the right)

good luck!

I was just about to post a question about the Maverick Ford Radio casette Model 2007, so I searched and found this.
I WAS thinking about replacing the Ford radio with a modern CD USB with ISO connector, and my questions were as follows:

1 Do you have to remove the centre part of the console, 2 screws behind the ash tray, and 2 screws under the switches, as the Ford removal tool will not allow the unit to be withdrawn, as if it is held in place somewhere else.

2 Will I need an ISO converter as the new radio has the ISO connector, I see they do one on ebay.

3 What is all this about the amplifier under the driver's seat, I thought this was the ECU for the 2.7 TD engine.
Maverick is 1995 Mk I 2.7TD with Ford Original radio/casette model 2007
Best regards, Rustic

IF ITS SAME AS THE ROUND HEADLIGHT VERSION YES, THE RADIO IS HELD IN PLACE BY TWO BRACKETS SCREWED T EACH SIDE OF THE UNIT AND THEN TO THE CENTRE CONSOLE METALWORK - ITS NOT DIFFICULT.

2 Will I need an ISO converter as the new radio has the ISO connector, I see they do one on ebay. GET IT OUT FIRST AND SEE WHAT WIRES YOU'VE GOT, I THINK IF IT DOESN'T HAVE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS THEN TI WILL NEED THE ISO CABLE BUT THEY'RE JUST OVER A TENNER FROM ANY MOTORIST SHOP....SAME FIT AS NISSAN PRIMERA I THINK

3 What is all this about the amplifier under the driver's seat, I thought this was the ECU for the 2.7 TD engine. I THINK YOU'RE RIGHT, NEVER HEARD OF THAT ONE BEFORE AND IT WOULD BEY VERY UNUSUAL FOR A FACTORY FIT INEXPENSIVE STEREO TO BE ANY MORE THAN JUST THE SINGLE IN-DASH UNIT....BUT I THINK THE ECU ON OLDER MODELS LIVES IN THE PASSENGER FOOTWELL SOMEWHERE? BUT THAT MIGHT BE WRONG!

I looked closely at the module under the drivers seat, it's metal casing is mechanically stamped with the "Ford" logo, since the radio is also a ford fitment, it looks as though the module is an amplifier after all.
All other devices with a ford badge are branded Nissan or the OEM manufacturer, bosch, lucas etc..
Since having the car for over 14 years, and using a cassette adapter with a portable CD player it looks like this is way it will stay. (all still works).

How it all started, I bought a Car Radio CD player from Aldi a few days ago for the boat, (This weeks offer). £49.99 CD player, USB, SD inputs, 3.5mm Aux input, RDS, TA, PTTY and remote control with a 6m range, great for remote operation etc Tried it out (played with it) last night cables every where, thought..... this would be nice in the Mav... so better check on our site first.
Well, saved me £50..

Thanks for all your help.
Best regards, Rustic
