Private plate question..
Looked on the DVLA Site and can't find the answer.
Anyone know the cost to transfer a plate from one car to another? Getting ready to sell our mr2 and want to put the plate onto the Mav. Ta Paul.

I find the best way and often the quickest is just before I am due to change cars, I put my plate on retention, it has usually taken just over a week to get the retention cert. back, (but can take longer)Then after I get the new car I nip up to the local DVLA with the cert and car and its all done then and there, costs about £105. To do a straight transfere from one car to another cost £80 but can take quite a bit longer

Usually the car you are taking your private plate off will get back its original number, and your private number either goes on the new vehicle or onto retention, both options you pay for.
