Default Help which CB ?

I'm asking for help yet again ops: ops: My old (15-20ish years old) is playing up eg if you key off sometimes there is no sound until you quickly key up again or as the other night it just tuned it's self to the engine whine i've been getting   So I think it may be on it's last (old) legs.
I've been having a bit of a look around on the net & ebay for a new 1 for about the £50 mark (b/day money left) & have come across these Midland 38 Plus, Midland 98 & a Team me-4. Does any one have a view on the above or can recomend a good CB radio.
Thanks for any help 8) 8) 8)

in the club bulk buy the midland 98 was popular, think was the excel model with all the features.

i went for the 38 with 80 channel option and ESP electronic squelch promises to give you weak voices even if over squelched so can get rid
of all that annoying radio noise.

the dealer of choice was 4x4cb.com

I checked yesterday and you no longer require a CB Licence since December last year....
I didn't know this, so it may help other past CBers...

I will dig out my Amstrad 901 and see if it still works.
Probably need a new CB Aerial.

It could have been useful last week while I was in a traffic Jam, as I didn't know how long it was... and was it worth sticking with it or getting off at the next junction..
You always think you made the wrong decision anyway....

Are there still enough truckers out there still giving 10-13's ? ?

There was a whole topic on CB licences http://www.nissan4x4ownersclub.co.uk...icence+license

and Yes there are still plenty of truckers using them, but mostly only in jams cos of the rubbish thats on there.

Mine is dead at the moment so will be looking for a new one before long.

It depends on what your after, but on ebay new Midland CB's are going from £30 to £70 new with 12 months warranty at the moment. Some of the older style Cobra's etc are going for under £20

Yeah the license was scrapped a while ago but it is still against the law to use a burner and AM/ssb/lsb and the likes, there still might be a rule about the size of twig you can use as well, not that Ofcom check unless there's a complaint!! 40 UK/FM and 40 EU/FM are legal, there are still alot of truckers on and alot of tractor drivers in my parts,as for homebases,i could count them on two hands!!!lol, different when you get to the cities though (Edinburgh),quite a few Muppets still going about.. I just switch over to 2mtr and get a decent conversation..
