Bought it cause I need something that can be a working vehicle, can also carry people in comfort, and can do holidays as well. So I think I will become an expert at whipping the seats in and out!
Restoring an old house at present, so it will be doing its share of humping stuff to the tip, and getting in building materials. Plans so far, a few sensible mods: roof rack, snorkel, some decent A/Ts etc... In terms of fun plans, did a few jaunts round Europe in the LR, so looking to do a few more of those in the Patrol, want to do Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland - so some sort of rear sleeping platform/storage system will be put in at some point - will need to be demountable/removable though so it can be stored when not required. Long term dream is still London to Capetown but that might have to wait a year or twenty. |

It's a head / heart thing. I love the old LRs but it was becoming increasingly impractical and exhausting as a daily drive, and I was starting to get bored with the bi-weekly maintenance/fettling schedule. If I could justify keeping both, with the LR as a summer toy, then I definitely would... So got my rational head on, and ploughed through every available LWB 4x4 in the UK, ditched all the pickups, and was left with Patrol or a Toyota LC. Didn't much fancy the prices of LC so Patrol it was! To be fair, I do rather like the Patrol having got a few hours driving under my belt, think it might become a bug. Not impressed with the scarcity of aftermarket suppliers for it though, silly buggers money for a lot of it, else you order from Oz and get nailed for shipping and customs! |

Good point, well made.
I'd forgotten that and was thinking bodywork too. I was looking at a couple of sites full of Terrano wings recently. |
