Where can I go in Derbyshire that won't scratch or dent my Mav?
Well yesterday I drove the Mav 50 miles each way to see the outlaws, the first time for a long distance in nearly a year believe it or not.
My shoulder replacement last March put paid to driving it, as I found it painful to change gear usually from 1st to second, or third down to second. When the gearbox gets warmer, it gets easier though. I have used it for short journeys, but yesterday I thought time to give it a blast prior to the up and coming MOT next month, bit smokey, so hoping a few blasts will cure that. It just had an oil and filter change, and fuel filter. So... We would like to take her and us for a run out say in Derbyshire, when the fancy takes us, but we would like to go where standard cars would find it difficult, but I don't want any scratches or dents in the old girl, or the Mav lol... I don't want to plaster the underside in mud either, as I am not that able anymore to start the power wash malarky lol... I want to be able to go out alone, at a time to suit us when we are able. I am undergoing more tests and scans for my Prostate cancer, (6months from diagnosis) and this week I will find out if things are stable, or worse, so now as I use an external sheath catheter, I am able to make longer journeys, so my quality of life is possibly set to improve. However, just as we see the light at the end of the tunnel...... my wife was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, so this week she is also undertaking scans, and we will soon get the results from that one too. So if we have the odd day between hospital visits, it would be nice to get out, now we have some sunshine, as due to my illness has left me confined to the house for most of the time. Early retirement for us both, has not been that good. Our moral is totally wrecked, as soon as we get over one thing, something else happens, we then say... what next? and boy do we soon find out. Uncle Rustic.

Hope everything goes well.... Get yourself up here in cumbria, theres no need for a greenlane as the roads are rough enough potholes up to your waist after the floods.

Hi Rustic, fingers crossed for you both with the tests.
Not so sure about easy lanes but I guess Elty may be able help. Perhaps a few of us could meet up with you, be great to meet you. Not sure what you're like walking but there are some nice easy walks around Derwent and Lady Bower Resevours. Nice visitor centre there too with loads of parking and I'm sure there will be info on the net. There is a memorial to the Dambusters on the wall of Derwent and of course some stunning scenery too. |

Thats a bum deal you have both been dealt.
As for easy lanes in derbyshire, theres a plenty. Depends on which part of derbyshire you want to visit but I can put an easy going non damaging route together for any part of the county Houndkirk road is a nice steady, well surfaced lane, brough lane is another, both with brilliant veiws of the surrounding area. |

Views of the surrounding area are what we need. Believe it or not, there are non in Staffordshire that I am aware of, although, I have "accidentally" got lost and found my way onto some of the forrest tracks of Cannock Chase lol, when they left the odd barrier open, gosh knows what I would have done if they closed the barrier before I got back lol.... Many thanks, Rustic

Hope things get better for you Rustic, I'd offer any help I could but since moving from the area I'm almost and hour and a half away from you now as opposed to 20 mins
