Much excitement, ordered my new boots for the truck today.

General Grabber AT's

Getting them fitted saturday, immediately followed by tracking.

Ahhhh yeh, I remember getting my brand new tyres, BF Goodrich A/T's , then they brought out the new and improved KO2's a few months later

Going for the Grabbers as they don't do BFG's in my size. Plus I like the look of them, the tread pattern doesn't scream "mud plugger", they supposedly are slightly more aggresive than BFG AT's. Got TOYO Open Country AT's on at moment, only got about 4mm tread left!

What have the toyo's been like? I was looking at those, the grabber at's and some Yokohama geolander's before I bought the bfg's, I only went a little bigger than standard, wish I had gone bigger now.

My first T2 had four odd tyres when bought, fronts nearly bald. Changed fronts for Toyo AT's. Always went where I needed. I'm not a serious mud-plugger like some... ...it goes off-road in the shooting season, does a bit when wife uses it to drag 2 tonne of hay about. Where we live, road outside ices first in the area, and we always catch about 2" of snow more than anyone else.

New T2 came in March with four very low Toyo's, but hasn't needed to do anything off-road yet. Toyo's have a good rep, as do Grabbers and BFG's

Yeah I don't do loads off road, I am doin more laning now tho, I wanted all terrain tyres cos it's my (clean) weekend car and tows my caravan, I was surprised how well it did off road on h/t's tho

I'm jealous, I want new tyres now lol

I'm also getting the tracking done at the same time. I have some interesting wear patterns on the old Toyo's

I have a set of Goodyear Wrangler 235/65 R 17 HP 104 V tyres on my Jeep cost £120 each whilst the look does not set me alight they seem very competent and are nice and quiet.

I've yet to see a Terrano that doesn't wear uneven on the front tyres, have tracking done with every set of front tyres and they always end up wearing one side off.
With my old truck I've tried different brands, my 05 plate did it and the project truck has done it. Suspect the antiquated mechanics of the trucks have something to do with it.

My first T2, as previously mentioned, had new Toyo's on the front shortly after purchase. They did about 7k in three years with even wear.

I haven't noticed uneven wear on mine (yet) but owners manual says to rotate tyres every 6k.

That's a very good point.



I've never got round to doing it, as all the 4x4's I've been responsible for (4.0 Jeep Gr. Chk, later 4.0 Jeep Gr. Chk, '01 T2 and now this one) haven't covered the mileage to warrant it. The wife had a 4.7 V8 Gr. Chk (on lpg) but she was doing 35k a year, so rarely stood still, but was permanent 4x4 and wore evenly all round.

This may explain uneven wear on others vehicles if they are not rotating. In theory you should do this on all vehicles. My Grandad religiously did it on a his cars. He used to rotate all round rather than front to back.

This will be the first time ever that I'll have put a whole set of new tyres on any of my vehicles and I've been driving for nearly 30 years (yikes, that makes me feel old ). I'm planning on keeping this T2 for minimum of 3 years, so it'll be interesting to see how they wear, both from the T2's suspension geometry point of view and also from the longevity of the General Grabbers.

Yeh me too, always had cheapos or part worn, some people report getting 80k from bfg a/t's, don't think I will tho
