Default Newbie needs advice

Evening all,
I was a member of this forum a few years ago had a 96 mistral, thinking of getting a terrano 2.7 just a few questions, ran mine on 50% wvo very successfully and wondered if the newer models (2000-2004) are still OK on it and is £2350 a good price for a 2000 with 77,000 miles.
Bought a caravan and can't think of a better tow vehicle and I have access to 30 litres of clean wvo a week.
Any help advice would be greatly appreciated if I go ahead will upgrade to full member.

Alex has a 04 model and runs on whatever successfully, Rick

Diff lock on rear
3 inch SS straight through exhaust
Manly winch bumper with 13000 lb winch
10 spike ground anchor, with multiple straps and blocks
Super strong body cills capped with scaffold pole
20% stronger springs all round
aggressive off road tyres on wheels so just swap.
Aim to get stuck and be completely self sufficient in extraction, love getting muddy, 2ft deep is good but rare.

the later models have a few alterations, the diffs are not as robust, they have fixed front hubs and no prop grease nipples, this leads to UJ failure even if never used 4 wheel, good point is the auto rear brake adjusters actually work, and they rust quicker than the older models, I am sure I have missed some points, but others will add, Rick

This is true but when you replace the bits just buy the old Skool bits with grease nipples (thanks rick)

They are a bit prone to rusting, mine is clean but that's because I spend a lot of Time with hammerite

As rick (solarman) says the diffs are not as robust. It will still take some major stick before busting, not heard of one going

I suggest a 50/50 mix to keep things running well, the engine loves it, but the pump will struggle the thicker the mix is, believe me I've ran all sorta of mixes now... Pure veggie in cold weather is not funny... Motorway trip limited to 50mph with engine light on.... Slipstreaming lorries to get a bit of heat into the fuel lines then a quick overtake and it would loose power again where the veggie thickened.

Thinning it with a small measured amount of petrol (or better yet an oil based thinner) will help also.

I now run 50/50 diesel svo and report no issues. I think I must have done 20k now on veggie

If you mean the fuel filter heater, then no, sold that ages ago, but got some plate heat exchangers that could be adapted, Rick

I have a 2004 that I either run on my own homemade B100 Biodiesel that I make from old re-cycled WVO or straight SVO with a splash of Diesel just to keep the pump happy

That reminds me Alex, when if you remember when I brought my truck mine had a heat exchanger already bolted to the body but was not hooked up, I might get that piped up for the winter on Bio

Old picture as this was when I first brought it and I'm still running the standard fuel filter there
