Woolworths
LONDON, Nov 26 (Reuters) - The board of DVDs-to-sweets retailer Woolworths looks set to approve a decision to put its retail and distribution businesses into administration.
When I was a lad Wollies was the place to go browsing for your Chrimbo prezzie..... it looks like the staff will not be having such a good Christmas this year Lucy was in there earlier this evening and almost everything was reduced to half price. |

Been in the news for a few weeks about this, yet another name going from the high street, makes you wonder where it will end.
Having said that the net as alot to answer for, when you can buy & have something sent to your door cheaper then going out to buy it. Paul.

Not going to get into politics cos it's the wrong place but it's not all golden browns fault.
What I will miss is the pick n mix stand, used to be a treat when I went shoppin wi mi old man to call at Woollies pick n mix :P . Still if only they sold 4X4 bits they would still be in business : Times like this it makes me glad I'm wi a local authority now, no where is 100% safe but I do feel safer than most. A lot of people going to be having a stressfull christmas this year. Jim T |

instead of bailing the banks out we / the government should have done mortgages. we bailed the banks out and they still re posses and proffit from there greed we should have let them fall .....if you could prove your income the government should have lent 4x your salary max this would have kept the housing market ticking over, the whole economy rides on the back of the housing market without it its all falling apart.... the construction industry is the u.k's biggest employer and now its dead has been since northern rock . the last little bits will be finished by christmas then were in the poop   |

It's a shame for the MFI workers but their stuff was pants so maybe now people will realise that 60% off and free this n that just is pants.
Woolworths will prob get bought out by some deal or other. Goodc luck to them. I'm self employed and have to work hard for every job I get, not like that twonk Brown. He just hung around long enough till Blair saw the doodoo nearing the fan and got the bus out of there! |
