Default Well Chuffed with Mechanics Report on my T2

Hi All,

As you probably know i bought a 2.4i "R" Reg SWB T2 a few moinths ago.

It only had 48K on the clock and only one owner from new. ( A Miss someone or other) but didn't have much history with it, I know some of the basics to look at and thought it looked as though it had been maintained well and drove fairly well.

Anyway it started to misfire occasionally when it was wet so bought new Plugs, Leads, Dist. Cap, Rotor Arm and also got some LS Oil for the Diff, was going to do it myself but heard of a friend of a friend who actual runs a T2 (OK his is a Diesel) and is a mechanic and has his own Workshop/Barn. So thought it better to give it to him to sort out.

I did ask him to give it a good look over first to make sure I hadn't bought a Lemon!!

Anyway, he replaced those parts and did the Belts, (I'd given it an oil change just after I got it).

He had a good look over it and said that underneath it was in great condition, all suspension, Body, etc. was great and no rust at all. In fact he couldn't believe just how good it was. He said things like Fuel Filter were not very old at all, so despite it not having much history looks like it was taken care of.

As an added bonus it now runs sweet as a nut. Also now got a CD player thanks to Elty.!

Well chuffed. Looks like it should last me a while. (Touch Wood) :

I will get round to posting a picture of it one day but it's a horrible Bright Green and doesn't look very special, there again looks weren't a factor as I only use it for Shooting and Fishing.

Cheers,

Only thing he did say is that it felt a bit "Wallowy" compared to his LWB but there again he said he hadn't driven a SWB before. But like I said he checked all the suspension and all seemed good.

Anyone driven both a LWB and SWB is so is this normal, he did say it could be partly due to my AT tyres.

I had both LWB & SWB Hewey and the long wheel base is in my opinion is a far better and smother ride.

Glad to hear you have managed to buy a goodun.
