far from it Nelsons crew had wooden plates for food with a raised edge on three sides each man's ration was the same and it was sloppy if he got more than he should it flowed more to the edge of his plate and the raised edge was called the fiddle, so if his food touched this he was on the fiddle, Rick

Standard EU number plate
I suspect that the EU are looking to standardise the size, shape and colour of the number plates and that seems a reasonable idea to me.
At present you get some vehicles like an Alfa where the UK sized number plate does not fit very well particularly on the front. Likewise some boot lids are designed to take large plates and ours look lost in the space. I do not think they are looking at a standard for the actual make up of the numbers and letters as previously posted this would ruin the present money spinner of personalised plates in the UK. Not sure how they would accommodate the German plate layout that includes licensing issue city and tax. Also these plates belong to the person not the vehicle I believe as all used cars for sale have no plates on them. At least that was the case in 1970 when I worked in Krefeld. |

Well the tax disc is being done away with later this year, I believe it will all be done electronically. I'm sure it will end up costing us drivers more in the long run though
