New to Nissan
Hi everyone, I have just bought my first Nissan although back in the 80's I did have a couple of Datsun's, one was a 180B SSS and the other one was a very small nippy thing but I cant remember it's name or number. My new Nissan is a year 2000 Terrano II 2.7 Diesel 3 door.
I have a flashing air bag light problem, I have done a fair few searches around the web and tried various things and the only one that did anything was turning the ignition on and then pressing the driver side door switch ten times, the flashing light then slowed in between blinks but didnt stop flashing altogether, I will have a good look around the forum for any possible answers and if I cant find any I will put a post up, thanks for any help. Thanks for the welcome Judd, I just popped outside and tried 6 presses and it gave the same results as 10.

I believe the correct process for the facelift model you have is this:
Nissan / Infinity Airbag Light Reset 1. Turn the ignition key to the “On Position”. 2. Watch the airbag light closely. It will stay on for a 6-7 seconds. As soon as it begins to blink, (the start of the flashing), turn the key to the “Off Position” instantly. 3. Wait a full 5 seconds 4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times until you have done the cycle three times. 5. Now turn the key on and watch the light. It will start blinking in a different, slower manner. This is diagnostic mode. From here, you can read the fault codes. You may remain in diagnostic mode for any length of time until you are ready to proceed to clear the light. 6. Now turn the key to the “Off Position” again and wait 5 seconds like in step 3 again. 7. Turn the key to the “On Position”. 8. If the procedure worked, the airbag light will not be flashing. If it does not work the first time, repeat the steps again, or additional faults still remain |

Thanks Clivvy, I have done the steps you posted already but it seems I can only get it into diagnostic mode by pressing the door switch, once in diagnostic mode I dont seem to be able to clear the light completely which as you say suggests other faults, after reading some of the posts in the Terrano section I may need to look under the seats for a dodgy wire.

Welcome mate, I had a similar problem on the wife's 98 and none of the tricks worked, so just before test time took it to a local garage that had the required diagnostic stuff 5 mins later sorted £20.00 Rick

I got that and can reset fault codes, but air bag light is not a fault code, Rick
