Ok, the odd bit now and again, we've all done it, but if this is your normal way of working, then think again.

Swarfega or similar products are better for the skin, but do require a lot of working in, before you wash off with water.
I use a scrubbing brush, but also a foam backed pan scourer, which I find works better.
I find constant washing with washing up liquid, dries the skin, and you end up with deep cracks in your skin.

Rubber gloves fall apart when in contact with waxoyl, and they grip too well when you are fitting nuts and bolts and get caught in the threads and rip.

Edit:- just found this about organic solvents, this will make you think again...

Back to the soapy stuff, I've always found washing up liquid & sugar to be brilliant at cleaning your hands of grease.......just rub it well in without water to begin with & it seems to lift the worst of it off without too much effort.

And Bic will get the waxoyl out of your hair, I reckon

go to your local decorators merchant and you will find sugar soap, leaves a chemical free surface for painting, so why not, been used for years, Rick
