I had a problem with the reverse light, check the connection [plug] on the gearbox, I took it apart [unplugged it] and pushed it back together again, worked ever since, crap on the contacts I guess

Thanks, will have a look. Given the contacts and wires in the light loom are all fine I figured there much be a fault in a switch or wire further up, just not sure where everything is yet.
I've got the workshop info so will take a look.

Well, I've taken the reverse light connector apart on the gearbox, cleaned it with contacts cleaner and put it back together, but still nothing. I think I'll need to get the multimeter out and have a proper prod when I find the time.
Not able to get a decent radio signal either. It looks like most have similar issues with the aerial. I was going to change my headunit for a new one anyway, so that might work. I also have some decent shielded coaxial cable, I wonder if replacing the cable to reduce signal look might help. Or buy a signal amplifier.

there are 5 connectors on the gear/transfer box, are you sure you got the right one? Rick

Nope, but I will get back under there and take a look. Everything is covered in crud so it's hard to make out what's metal, plastic or horse dung.
I think I found 3 connectors, one with two cables and two with one black cable. They were covered in crud and hard to get apart.
I haven't got anywhere to get the car in the air, so am just wriggling underneath for now. Doesn't leave me much space to have a proper search.

Had a bit of noise from the front wheels when turning the past few days. Went to have a look and the rubber arch liner was loose and getting ripped up by the wheels.
I've taken the offending article out now and can see most of the front panels are held on with cable ties. The metal behind the front bumper looks pretty rotten, especially where it joins the wings. Also looks like the offside sill will need welding soon.
I might well be selling this one for parts when the MoT expires in June and be on the search for a LWB in better condition.
Wouldn't mind a dropping by a knowledgeable members to let them give it a once over. My driveway's gravel so any jacking up needs t be done elsewhere, which is a really pain. I do have a couple of ramps, but again wouldn't want to get the car in the air and have them slip.
sp00k, I might well see if your around sometime and get your opinion on the truck, work that needs doing before MoT and if it's worthwhile.

Took out the Banjo today after following the workshop guide here. Found my banjo bolt seems to have a hollow shaft with the gauze inside it rather than a spring and filter. Unless I've just taken out the wrong piece
I gave it a good soak in some white spirit.
I'm still getting some issues getting up to speed. This eased originally when I used a fuel flush chemical so I'm thinking it's still the fuel system somewhere.
Is there an in tank filter on the lift pump?
Can you take this out from the top, or do I need to drop the tank?

Most of the nissan boys here just remove that gauze period.

lift the carpet in the rear you'll see a round panel held down by three screws.

My mini filter was inside the banjo bolt, same as yours.
I took it out, give it a stiff coat of looking at, then binned it.
It's in a landfill site somewhere now.

Okay, when I have time I'll get the Banjo bolt out again and try to remove the innards and chuck them away to prevent any future issues. Unless it's better to replace it woth a new bolt.

I'll have a look in the fuel tank. Someone told me i'd need to drop the tank, but in fairness I haven't lookd under the carpet yet. That'll give me something to do this weekend.

At least it's a good vehicle to learn on, not overly complicated.

Pull your boot carpet up and there will be a metal panel held down with 4 nuts/screws

Screws? no screws here, just held down with a huge amount of silicon sealant.

This was beneath a layer of soaking newspaper, which I assume was here to soak up the leaking boot. Will have to find out where it's leaking from. I know that seems a common issue here too.

the lack of rusty screws made it easy enough to remove, although what I found underneath didn't fill me with an overwhelming sense of joy.



I gave it a clean with some soapy water, but will need to get in there and do more cleaning before I consider opening up the tank. It all looks quite rotten at the moment though.




is there supposed to be another connector here? or is that just on the petrol ones?
