Punchy... all fighters start off as a novice and get trained up to go three 2 minute rounds against one of the others of roughly equal weight and ability.
It's one way to shift the extra Christmas weight! |

No need to sign up, there are plenty of pubs in town on a late Saturday night, first come first served.
As Rick says, I too have no great interest in any type of fighting, but as a fellow member, let me wish you all the best. What is it they say... "Break a leg" or is that in acting and filming. Maybe the term should be... " Break a nose" Good Luck.

Cheers folks
Haha rustic I live in Dundee and used to be in Young Farmers so am aware that's always an option I try to behave myself when it comes to that though... I get enough bruises and knocks working on the farm! I've already had my nose broken... first time it happened my Mum did it! Yeh AlexD333 there are a few rugby players signed up to it so far and they are packing the pounds, I know from personal experience though that the kind of training we'll be getting will melt away a bit of that weight! When I started training 2 years ago for the various long distance obstacle courses I've done I weighed in at 106 kg and eventually dropped down to a steady 95/96kg despite getting physically bigger. As part of my training I joined the boxercise class my mate runs and he was merciless so I should at least have a basic idea of stance and how to throw the punches. Long as I don't get knocked out and give a good account of myself I'll be reasonably happy, but I am going to go in aiming to win my bout! |

I like the look of it, but would not have the nerve to do it (I'm to old to risk an injury would be my excuse). Nonetheless it looks like a well organised event, and I guess you will be using head protection, so good luck with it and the cause it supports.
Regards Alan |

The very best of luck to you, from my experience in kickboxing the majority of people only enter contests when they know they are going to do well, normally by saying they are not as good as they really are.
Think fitness is going to be the key, if you can keep your stamina up then it will give you the best chance. Dont forget that the adrenalin which will be running through your veins will zap your stamina just as much as the boxing. Expecting regular updates on the training progress. |

Thanks lads and cheers for the tip kickboxer, will definitely bear that in mind
Updates will be forthcoming... training at the club starts on 20th but I'm planning to start back on monday morning with my running, press-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups and dumbbells routine - having a goal helps a lot! |
