Default local steel stockist

I love my local steel supplier.

a few weeks ago I needed some 4" tubing to fit my snorkel.
I came away with a 5 foot length for the price of some milk in there canteen

yesterday I was in b&Q and was looking for steel for my light rail.
it was 11 quid for a 6' length of steel tubing that wouldn't of taken the weight of 1 lamp let alone 6

so I called in see my new mate ron
It cost me a tenner for 12' length of 30mm tubing that is quite hefty.

while I was there I thought id ask for some 24"x24" 3mm plate.
he sent me down his other place.
I had 2 sheets this size. I thought its got be 15,20 quid.
oh give us a couple of quid for the tea fund

at this rate it will be cheaper for me to buy a welder and make my own winch bumber

I gave him a tenner and was chuffed

That's the way mate. I get shed loads of off cuts from the smithy for a few quid and cheap skills when I can't weld it or bend it myself

I did welding when I was a kid mate and was good at it (arc never done mig)
Ive made a couple of mates that work in the trade.
with bending and big cutting machines

the ironic thing is....
also when I was young I thought frigg this for a job working with freezing cold steel
I like working with wood
and end up being a vision technision cleaning windows in winter without gloves

and on top of that it seems cheaper to buy steel than it does wood
I put that down to people like me
if you can use it for fuel the price has gone up a lot like veg oil
