I had both driveshafts off today to replace the shit balcast outer cv boots I put on that lasted about 6 months. Rolling around on gravel mud and freezing water, grim.

that is bad news, fitted a couple of new boots to my off roader a while ago, do not remember the make but hope they last better than that, they must have been old stock or something to fail in that time, Rick

These cvs don't knock off, for me anyway. I remove the shaft, take the circlip of the tripod joi t and slip that off with its boot. Then slide new cv boot down the shaft, and assemble in reverse

Did you have to remove the CV joint from the hub or can it be left in place & just undo the bottom ball joint & swing the hub out off the shaft ? mine will need doing soon as they are starting to crack

We had a huge hail storm, lasted about 15mins, and put about 1/2 inch of white stuff all over the car I was working on... I had to dive under the garage door, as it hurt...
My Wife texted me from Croydon to say they had a proper snow storm for a short time, it did not lay at all though. |

Undo Bottom ball joint, circlip off end of cv, swing hub up, take shaft off completely
