Don't be too sure about that Clivvy. It was in the news yesterday and the government denied it but didn't back it up with figures just hearsay.
Only time will tell that's all I can say. Rationing? how can they ration Gas? if they turn the supplies off to the street mains pipelines they'll have to bleed the air out of everyones system each time it's turned back on. |

Gas rationing will be very difficult to implement with domestic customers, as if they do a mass closure, they will have to go to every house to ensure that ALL the gas appliances are turned off BEFORE they can even consider switching the gas back on.
This is because there are still gas appliances without flame failure devices that will shut the gas off. These include but not limited to cookers, ovens, gas fires....etc The target for controlled gas disruption will be large individual clients that use huge amounts of gas, gas fired power stations, companies using large amounts, like glass manufacturing, metal smelting etc etc It will be the rationing of electricity that will be the outcome of gas cuts, so we will still be affected, well all of us except solar man that is, oh and me as I have a generator, as long as the local petrol station can still provide petrol via their electric pump... Who could survive in this cold weather without electricity? Rustic PS a foot of snow on the south edge of Cannock Chase, and still coming down.

There was a failure yesterday on the gas pipeline between Belgum and you lot in Engerland . The cost of "buy it now" gas shot up big time , fact.
I dont know about reserves but there is a shortage. I love being off gas for this very reason, now lets chuck another old kitchen door on the barbie |

I wouldnt be too confident about the gas and lights going off asfor years big companys that use a lot of energy have signed up to an agreement to reduce thre loads during domestic peak time in return for cheaper off peak usage We used to get emails during winter to shut our asphalt plants down useually between 4and 6 |

My job for the day, chain saw and a likely looking tree, as we were going to a local woodland for some more but it is too boggy to get the trailer in so will have to wait a couple of weeks, in the mean time stocks are getting a little low, Rick

im sorry, no, gas isn't going to be an issue. For a start, in the budget, they have provisioned money for shale gas to go ahead-because we are sitting on a shit load.
All we are seeing, is yet another excuse for gas price increases. I couldn't give a damn, ill just put my electric heater on if it gets that bad, I certainly wont start paying silly money for shitty gas. |
