Has anyone used a "gas less mig", what are they like. Can you do bodywork jobs ok or is a gas version better.

you really need gas for car body gasless is ok but in places u cant get bottle to i would go for gas everytime wait for a vat free day at machine mart also join www.mig-welding.co.uk good bunch of lads will to help before and after u bought the welder

Just get a gas one, a clarke 135 is a good all rounder

If you want to do bodywork then you need to make sure your amps go low enough like 35 amp or you'll blow holes through and it will be a nightmare

That one looks like it does 60-120 amps range, so its shite mate tbh

You could have a pucker used welder for that price, or pay the extra 50 and get a clarke

SWP excellent welders Like all these things spend as much as you dare. My son had a gasless one Sealy Mighty Mig150 it was poo without gas on body work. It's ok on bigger stuff though.
Main prob with the cheaper ones is the power settings, usually just 4 settings Way too few for body work especially rusty work
So look for ones with progressive power control

i have 1 like this but made 20miles away by IFL in honiton it will do down to the thinnest car body .6mm i have used it on the airbox for the terrano which is thiner than the body work no problem it will weld up to 5mm with no prep work get on to www.mig-welding.co.uk and ask and search for what is best for u buy cheap and it ends up more expensive in long run and sign up to machine mart email and they send u a coupon once every 3 weeks or so for vat free shopping my mig cost me £400 as i am local to ifl but that helps to as if anything goes wrong no problem or if you need a hand to set it up they r in the country to help

yes it is a bit dear but i got it for £400 thats £177 cheaper than anywhere else that was selling that type and it cam with a euro torch and i can tig and stick weld with it check machine mart for cheapest euro torch mig and its up round £400 to £500 and that just does mig i saved up for my mig as its 1 thing that i dont want to have to buy again when i out grow it or if it goes wrong i no its alot of money but i am afraid u get what u pay for but the clarke wleder r good for the price.
join that site they have a section for secondhand items for sale (welder do come up from time to time) and they r more honest then sh sellers on ebay or u could save vat and sign up for machine mart vat free day at least its a big chain store that if u have a problem u can take it back and get spares for like drive feed motor
