Default wanted - EGR blanking plate

chaps!

I really want to get my EGR done, but i need a blanking plate to slide in between the egr and manifold, anybody got one they can sell me?

cant find any on fleabay...!!

Make one

Or take off your egr valve and take it to a local engineer shop and tell them to knock up 2 4mm plates for you, thats what i did last week, cost me a tenner

I bolted them in place with 700 degree copper rtv and did away with the egr valve altogether

how difficult is it to actually remove the egr? The guide in Downloads doesnt show this, and i'd really like to actually remove it for cleaning...

its a right twat to get off. Dont bother cleaning it, waste of time. If you are removing it then plate the holes back up, dont put it back on

What material is best to use ali or steel if there worth £10 a set ill get some lasered out.

let me know, because sliding in a blanking plate both ends of the egr is better than struggling to take it out...

I did not find it as difficult to remove the EGR entirely, at least as much as I was anticipating it to be based on all the comments on the forum. I do have a very nice set of ratcheting end wrenches, which helped inmensely.

I used a piece of 4 mm stainless plate that I happen to have. I traced the pattern onto the plate from the EGR valve and in only a couple of minutes of work with angle grinder and a 1mm metal cutting disk I had a couple of plates. I sanded the edges and just epoxied the one plate on the intake manifold side. The other side from the exhaust manifold needs to be bolted on--with just epoxy it lasted over 500 miles but it was scary when it came loose. The next one I made, I bolted on. It is not a hard job to do at all.

I slid one in at first but you need to get some copper rtv on it as well to ensure its gas tight, this is why you're best to remove it and blank it with 4mm plate, otherwise you'll rub all the paste off when u slide it in

thanks for the replies guys. I have seen Kamsins video, and I was worried that the EGR removal really WAS as difficult as he said it was!! ah well, Ill just have to get in there and do it, thats next weekends job.

I got the bottom bolts from the top side, i just reached under the inlet manifold with a 12mm deep socket and a ratchet, was a pain in the arse tho lol

do you mean the two I can see, drivers side, on the side of the inlet manifold, or are there some underneath that I cant see?

no those are the easy ones, there are some underneath connected to a flange/pipe that runs to the exhaust manifold
