but seriously, hire a trailer and crack on, If Pete's offer stands take him along to ride shotgun and check it out for yourself. You may even be able to barter fun unexpected surprises when you get there. And for heavens sake PAY CASH! work out the percentage paypal would have taken and knock him down on that to start with |

i like you positive comments plank. so far, a few people on the other Fiat club have made me feel a bit bad, liek i am mad for not seeing the car first. I mean, unless the car has some major structural rot (im not talking sills here) then i dont see the problem....its a project car for gods sake. I EXPECT to have to fix it up...!!

ok, just had this back from the chap:
"The vehicle is driveable, no problem there. I've described the car as accurately as I can but if there is anything else specifically you need to know please email me. I've a couple of manuals (Haynes and another) which I will supply no problem. The bodywork and the engine tune are really the most important, I've lived with the bodywork for some time now so would recommend first job to be a good engine tune from someone a little 'old school' carburettors, points etc. The only additional item you will need to know is that a switch has been fitted to manually turn on the radiator cooling fan, the X1/9 is known for it's automatic switch to be set to cut in a quite a high temperature, the manual one I always use when the guage reads around 80/85 degrees. As far as I'm aware the car as no 'major rot issues', I had some welding done for the last MoT has it has been garaged overnight since then, although used and outside when I've used it for work. The vehicle drives well, engine responsive (although as stated would benefit from a tune up), clutch, gearbox, steering and suspension good for a car of its age. By all means if you wish to arrange an inspection that if absolutely fine." seems ok to me, this plus a successful inspection by Rick, and im on the road to a decent starter project car?! no? |

Well, I'm not buying the car now, got mot history check done and the mileage hasn't changed since 2006, so can't trust anything really. Also, major not fails over the years, there's a lot more wrong than described, so I've told him I'm not buying it.

cheers Plank, he came back and said the speedo doesnt work at all, cable snapped in 2004 when clutch was done, well, that should have been in the ad, he has purposfully missed out key details about a car-which i would expect to have a working speedo-that makes the car dangerous to drive and i think legally it should be working? I dunno, regardless, the mileage is NOT correct thus making his advert misleading, so I get away with it as far as Ebay is concerend...
