Hi All,
Another from Wales although I'm from the mainland originally Just bought a 2002 LWB T2 3.0 SVE mainly for some extra towing power, were off to Italy with our hot air balloon, should be easy across the Alps... Its a really nice car from the outside, just a shame when it was built they forgot to apply any rust protection to the chassis. Got it up on a ramp today to find that the N/S/R top spring mount has 95% detached its self from the chassis, it now rests against the floor Now desperately looking for a tow vehicle for Saturday! Are Terrano's prone to corrosion? It appears a nice car and no obvious signs of being in the water... Paul |

Oh god not another one, Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear of your woes.
I've got a 1998 maverick, And it's in pretty good condition as rust goes. Maybe terranos weren't as well rust protected or yours has had a harsh life near the sea? |

hi and welcome paul, rust was a problem on mine, but spent a day rubbing down and scrapping rust, then absolutly plastered it with hamerite wax oil, the black stuff, not the clear, Mot guy said i had done a good job..........nice and sticky for him ...oh well, lol

It doesnt appear to have been in the water or near the sea, seems to have spent much of its time near Manchester.
Its only the chassis that shows signs of corrosion, nothing on floorpan or other obvious bits, outer bodywork is very clean. Will get this repaired and give it a damn good clean up and protection. A friend has saved the day with the loan of a Discovery |

AGreed - give it a good clean and see what the damage really is - might not be as bad as it seems.
They can suffer from rust, especially the rear end of the sills (which you can't buy so they have to be patched) which seem to go from inside to out. But once a bit of welding has been done it will go on for ever. The engine will outlast everything else. There were a lot of parallel imports of these so you may have one that was destined for Cyprus or one of the regions they didn't underseal for. So during the summer, get the thing steam cleaned underneath (local private bus depot is always a good bet) and paint it over with Neutrarust 616 or some such product that converts any surface rust to a hard impermeable substance (not rust remover as that just exposes the next surface for it to start all over again, get a convertor), then spray with stone-chip. Where in Civilisation are you then boyo? |
