I know you can add more seats if space permits, i used to have a 7 seat nissan serena that i upgraed to 8 seats by having a lapbelt fitted by a proffessional, then had to send the log book off to make the change to it from saying 7 seats to 8 seats

Will give the motor vehicle registration office a call and see if they will permit that.

there was a time when car mags even 4x4 mags had adverts for pro fitted
seats into boot often rear facing. think volvo estates? and certainly a montego my mum had a factory version fold up out of floor. not a fan of lap belts, think insurers are much tighter in these risk assessed days. funny how 7 seats is practical limit for non mini buses or imports, could be that for every seat theres a liability, like what a life is worth in a claim. insurers will side with manufacture that ploughs millions into designing the car versus joe bloggs with how ever much good intent or engineering ability modding or bodging at worst your motor. fear you will need another or an extra motor. cos got to put your family first before price.

Was looking at these. They have one to fit a Terrano. Might be cheaper to change the car though. They're shocking expensive |

ask your insurance company if they would insure you if the car had been 'professionally adapted' to carry 8. If they say yes with an engineers report (which is usual) go to your local MOT garage and ask them their point of vie, they could do what it takes and provide a report for the insurance company. This is how it works when adding extra seating capacity to vans.
Another alternative, try another insurer with the same questions |

the troll has 2/3/2 layout all forward facing, all 3 points except middle middle.
just thinking 'boot' could probably cope with a 2 double side ways but i'm fussy dont like side wards either, ever travelled in back of a landie fun soon wears off. likely would be lap belts again. no it was just train of thought i had, quickly dispelled!

Do you really want 8 squeezed into a T2 anyway
As they get bigger which in our experience with 4 is a daily occurrence you will live to regret making do, spending dosh and time but not going large in the first place Additional move also includes |

True enough. But I had hoped to get another year or two out of the T2. Do I really have to buy a mini-bus jobby
