driving on southport beach

i am about to go away to southport and was woundering if you can still drive on the beach their

the wife is learning to drive but on a lesson she was rear ended buy a touareg in a fiat stilo and is a little bit nervous about getting back behind the wheel so i thought if you could drive on the beach might get her confidence up a little

we are going to pontins for the weekend so its ok to take her out on it then make her see that the bigger car is better lol

thats a swine, tell her to get stuck in, we had that happen. now mrs wouldnt
drive anything smaller than a terano or patrol! and tbh i often feel insecure
in aything much smaller especially as a passanger.

You can park on the beach in Southport but you have to pay, I don't think you can drive along the beach. We used to drive on at Ainsdale and then all along the beach to Southport, a good way of getting some one used to handling a vehicle. There is more room at the Ainsdale end.
If you are driving into Southport the park and ride is the best place to park you don't need to get the bus though as its a nice walk into town. We often use the Caravan Club site which is near the sea and a short walk through the park into town. This park is used for the famous Southport flower show which is on at the moment.
My wife had an incident when she was a learner and she stopped driving for ten years, she took it up again when we had children but she always regretted not persevering at the time.

If you are able to drive on the beach, I guess normal rules apply, eg Learners to have L plates etc..
When I was a kid we used to go to old airfields to practice....
No rules as such in those days (That we knew about anyway).

Many years ago we took the Mav onto Southport beach, and watch the attendant pull a Fiesta out rearwards, with a Toyota pickup, the sand was
pushing into the front wheels and brakes because the driver hadn't straightened the front wheels. Sand was everywhere.
Watch out for the very dry soft sand if there is any ....
When you get home, wash off all the sand and salt. You'll be surprised where it gets... a bit like swiming in the sea..
