Hi,

tis new here so thought i would say hi

-------------------------------------------

have an 'N' reg Maverick, 2.7td (would love to know if/how to fit an intercooler/cost ease etc.)

cb fitted (but now looking for somewhere to relocate radio aerial)

gas shocks at the front, and poly bushed roll bar

looking to fit 2" lift springs shortly (any ideas on best place/price to get them from)

and also to replace autohubs with manuals... autos broke (again... any advice on place/price)

am a member of northants4x4.com and also a member of the responce team

into preserved railways and part own a steam engine and enjoy engineering, 4x4, beer and keeping busy!

anyway...

look forward to hearing back from anyone and keeping up to date with the forum and attending any local events/meets...

Hi Simon,

yes posable to fit, but loads of messing about. have a search and read.

ive a mag mount thats OK. but some have fixed by back window.


manual hubs, millers im told. not bust my autos so never needed to look. loads of stuf on manual / auto hubs..



lift springs, you on LWB or SWB?

mag mount is probably your best option ... for ease of fitting also for quick removal , no need to drill holes in your roof or have brackets etc..... if you plan to go greenlaning a mag mount with a small springer aerial is probably your best option ..... feed the coax through your sunroof ( if you have one )

what are you doing to keep busting your snap rings then - is it getting a bit of abuse?

reasonable amount of use on green lanes and that is about it...
but before after taking it out for any 'real' use, was taking it down a country road when she started clicking and this carried on for a while prior to having the chance to look closer but then upon doing so... just had a collection of broken parts fall out on the driveway

OK VT, its just that manual hubs are (i) a PITA and (ii) not really necessary - the snap rings are only required to help get it into/out of 4WD...once its in they are not part of the drivetrain.

My advice would be to get a new set of proper rings, put the things back together in exactly the right way and see what happens. Are you doing all the usual stuff, .e. reversing 2-3 metres with the lever back in 2WD to get it out of 4WD and the green light off...?

Your post seems to imply that this is not your first snapring failure? If it IS, then just change the rings and it shouldn't recur...if it isn't the first time I'd be looking for a root cause. Sure they do fail but usually because of old age and even then I suspect the majority of users on here have never had the problem.....I've done a shedloads of miles in four T2s and never an issue....
