speeding offences
Well done something really stupid today, driving on knowsley expressway upto roadworks so busy thinking of all the other things going on and stressing me out did not see 40 mph speed limit. got caught on speed camera, it flashed twice I think i was doing between 50 and 60 but not sure... i saw the camera flash at car infront of me and hit the brakes hard... Anybody know what happens now, i think it takes about 6 weeks for ticket.. but never had one before. normally drive very carefully. I dread losing my licence as i drive as part of my job...
anyone got any advice. apart from don't go speeding then!!! Moved to general (CM) |

Normally with in a month, but I got flashed years ago (used to collect speeding tickets like necta points : ops: ) & never got any thing about it in the post :? have been told that the flash always works but often the film runs out in no time. So hopefully this will be your case

Speeding offence
About 3 years ago I was driving out of Blackpool on the Garstang road , driving a Volvo coach, and had my photo taken. I was given the option of a £60:00 fine + 3 penalty points ... or I could attend a 1 day speed awareness course at Lancaster, which cost £85:00 , and no fine or points.
I think it will depend on how much over the limit you were travelling. If you were say about 5mph over the limit ... they may offer you the course, especially as it's a first offence. |

Always ask for the photo evidence we have to at work so we can pass it on to the driver
about a third of the tickets are dropped because the picture doesn't meet the requirments and they know they wouldn't be able to take it any futher but if you dont ask for the evidence and just pay the fine and get the points you are admitting that you were speeding and they wont need the photo evidence.

If your vehicle is privately registered, then the police have 14 days to send a Notice of Intention to Prosecute (NIP). Be aware, the excuse of not recieving a NIP doesn't work, if plod show that the NIp was generated 7 posted. you have a certain amount of time to reply, with driver details.
This particular GATSO does seem sensitive, I've seen a high number of apparent captures from ti, but you really don't know if there is any film in it. Sit tight, see what happens. Ask for a photo to help with driver recognition before owning up to being the driver. See what they offer. If they offer a fixed penalty, go with it, if they want magistrates, PM me, I know a good traffic offences solicitor in Widnes. Over 60 in a 40 mph zone may well probably be magistrates, BTW. [Any other cars in the picture really renders it useless, be aware that they should provide an original print, uncropped, and plod have been known to crop a photo to remove other vehicles that may have triggered the camera.] |

Its to do with the rgistered keeper being responsible for the vehicle, and the registered keepr ultimately being responsible for knwoing who is driving.
I do know someone who genuinely (?) said that he & his wife couldn't recall who was driving their car on a certain road on a particular date, because they only own 1 car, both use it, and the road they were caught on is the main road from their village to civilisation. they attended magistrates, put a convincing case forward, and because 2 people were in effect both saying it could be them, but the law can't prosecute 2 people for driving, the magistrates actually dropped the case! I think the fact he is a doctor (upstanding pillar of the community & all that stuff) helped them though. |

on motoring ofences you are guilty until you can prove your inocence im no lover of authority and question anything they tell me just because a man has fancy education and law degree dont make him better than me he will have to put he question in words i understand or i wont be able to answer them magistrates are only shop keepers and buisness people from local area they have no legal back ground rely on the clark to advise them! i realised long ago i could not do everything with brute strength and luckily enough found getting an education fairly easy to do whilst not putting to much effort into it ust the way i like things!
