Default mk1 to mk2 EGR valve would it fit?

evening all,
am hoping that someone on here will be able to tell me yes or no to something in respect of the EGR valve i'm after,

are there any differences between the mk1 square headlight model, and the mk2 round headlight model, i have found one at a breakers but the part numbers are different, and thought id ask on here first to see?

otherwise its ANOTHER £300 for a recon, or £340+vat for genuine!!!!!

I don't know the petrol model, but on the diesel, the EGR is a PITA and better off blocked....its only emissions control at the end of the day and recirculates shitty exhaust fumes back into the engine.....can you not do the same as diesel owners would do and take it out of the loop?

I guess you might need to adjust mixture or something like that but thats cheaper than spending that kind of wonga?

thats been tried today, UNDERPOWERED to say the least, have found one at a breakers for £70 inc delivery, but like i say part numbers dont match thats the only stumbling block,
hes tried blanking off and just dosnt want to know so thanks for your answer but i think the petrol does need it, BLOODY TYPICAL!!!!!

Whats the part number on yours you did contact me via ebay ive got some one interested in the cylinder head of my engine so maybe available if i can do the deal there

not too sure at present, but i will be able to find out tomorrow, as at the moment its in the boot of my car at the garage!!!

I'm still not convinced you can't just block it off with some gasket. I've googled a number of petrol threads where is been successfully done. DSome manufacturers (Ford being one!) even sell the blanking plate!

All the EGR does, as I said, is recirculate exhaust gas into the engine to reduce emissions a bit........usually not enough to fail your MoT....so if its blocked off it just means the engine sucks in 100% fresh air instead.....if you're still getting a problem with it properly blocked, I'd suggest its something else....

I'd do some more digging.....

Remove the feed pipe to the valve or the top of the valve, and cut a thin piece of steel plate in the shape of the gasket to blank it off. Leave the pipes / electrical connection in place.

EGR is the work of the devil.

would a faulty egr valve cause the maverick to lose power? and when you say ford dealers sell the plates is that genunine ford dealers or after market?

i will pass on what you have said up to now but i just seem to be chucking money into an endless pit at the moment and it really is starting to make me thimnk about giving up on it now.
