Default Insurance

Who do people use for insurance and what sort of money are you paying.

Mines with Directline and they're wanting £403.00 for me and the wife fully loaded and not forgetting my 3 points. It doesn't do as many miles so just waiting to see if they'll drop the premium.

I was just about to start a new thread on insurance, I hope you don't mind me adding to your query Jim.
My daughter has a car and she is going to stop the insurance soon.
Can I drive the car on my Maverick insurance 3rd party, OR does the car have to be insured in it's own right before I can drive it legally.
Clearly if seen by the police it would come up as having no insurance and the inevitable STOP.. but can I drive it legally?

My insurance is 480 fully comp, legal cover ad wind screen, but no road side recovery. but it does include my k&N.

Ref Rustic's question.

my policy is fully comp, and a little line on the bottom of the isurance certificate says

"may drive any private vehicle with the owners permission (not including hire or lease vehicles)

The old myth of fully comp meaning u can drive any car at 3rd party is a load of pants.

It all depends on the driver and insurance policy.

hope it helps.

if you are fully comp you cannot drive another vehicle unless it is insured by the owner, it should state may drive any motor car with permission of owner, but in you schedule it will say it must be insured. only traders policy will cover any car

my wifes policy with me on as spouse, full comp, protected, windscreen and courtesy car cost £190.00.

if your policy covers you then yes , but they usually require it to be insured by the owner too. and you cant be the owner of said vehicle

i would'nt like to go to court with a date and time, they will proberly lose or wipe the tape, and the only way you can drive a uninsured vehicle is if you have motor traders policy, risky if you ask me jimmy.

This is FACT:-
If you are the named insurer on your vehicle & it states you can drive any other INSURED car 3rd party only.! Then you are safe.!

(thats how i got my 6 points & an IN10.!
I had insurance but my x friends car didn't.!)

Or

You have a traders policy with trade plates.!

If its not in black & white, then the computer says NO.!

Thanks Adz and every one who made a contribution, it is clear to me that my daughters car needs to be insured then before I can drive it on my insurance ( I will check the small print in my policy), I won't take the word of a rep for the company unless it is in writing then.
Thanks again for all your comments.
Best regards,
Rustic

all this about driving other cars is fine, but it does NOT apply to commercial vehicles ie vans and trucks, my mate has just been nicked for driving a transit van,it is owned by his mate full comp, pulled over by police and when they checked his insurance it stated, policy holder may drive any other MOTOR CAR, and that means only cars, not vans etc.
a few years ago insurance policies had any ANY OTHER VEHICLE.
you must read the shedule that comes with you certifiate.
