Do we have any members from Ireland?
If so a question for you, (not N.Ireland People)
I would like to move over there and still be a telephone engineer, however can't find out who the main phone company is. So when you have a problem / want a line installed who comes to do it. I believe that BT/OPENREACH don't operate there? any help would b great? |

My cousin moved out there a few years ago and after moving in to a new house tried without much success for weeks to get a phone line fitted, until his Irish girlfriend on hearing this said "your wasting your time calling them just ask down the pub"?? he did and the engineer was there?? his phone was done that afternoon??
I think it's the way things are done? Just ask down the pub? |

Depends on what part of the country you're in We do have a reasonable phone service in the second city of the former British Empire (Dublin). It's amazing what can be achieved over a few pints of Guinness I was over the West in Connemara this weekend and sometimes work is still done on the old traditional community way, where neighbours will help each other just because they are neighbours. Nice to see it still in action although it probably happens less than it used to years ago. |
