Did you know that you can test a remote control by using your mobile phone?

If you have a camera phone point the remote control at the camera and you should see the infrared flashing on your phone screen.

Now park at the back of your brain until needed.

works on an ordinary video camera as well, noticed that ages ago but never worked out why it does it...weird!
