does anyone know for sure if a petrol rear axle and diff will fit and work on a 2.7tdi
im just putting pauls theory to test that they use the same parts where they can i assume the gearing difference will be sorted in the gearbox before it gets to the rear diff will save me loads if it does please help |

As far as I'm aware the diff ratios etc are the same across all models as are gearbox ratios, so they should be interchangable. If changing just one iff it woul be best to count the teeth on the crown wheel an pinions of the 2 diffs to ensure they are the same - you'd get reaful windup (even offroad) if not.

This is an ford english diff, but it is the same basic pattern so will give you and idea (pics nicked off ebay) Count teeth on crownwheel - tip: use paint, tippex or something to mark where you start. Count teeth on pinion gear Divide crownwheel by pinion to give ratio, X:1 |
