I’m Feeling Like Victor Meldrew
Well this last couple of days has been quite stressful and difficult, it’s made me take a step back and think that I’m starting to become Victor Meldrew. It appears I expect far too much from businesses I have dealings with.
Yesterday evening myself and two friends decided to go to a local Fish n Chip emporium that’s quite famous in these parts, named after a character that wore pretty scruffy clothing, wellies, had a thing about a certain lady that lived in the ouse above his with wrinkly stockings but he loved his Ferrets even more. Anyway we walked into said shop and all 3 of us placed our orders and then a couple of other blokes came in and ordered too. Well the staff served the 2 blokes and then 2 of my friends but sadly they were waiting for more fish to cook. Anyways my friends disappeared to eat their food whilst I waited. Then some more people came in and fish came out of the fryer which were served to these other people. Then this started to happen again and I enquired what are you playing at and wheres mine. A short conversation about waiting for fish to fry started, so I politely asked for a refund as my friends had by now finished theirs. Then the staff started giving me reasons why not and delaying even further. So I pointed out that I had asked for a refund and I wanted to speak to the owner who begrudgingly gave permission to refund me which displeased the you g lady serving me. Today my camper was booked in for MOT and Timing Belt and Waterpump replacing, TD27 much better design. Eventually I got the phone call to collect my van. It turns out that the euro6 engine the waterpump is optional but I wasn’t advised of this when booking in. Then they were charging for the MOT but as I have a service plan this is free, so a further delay whilst they printed a new invoice. Paid up and was handed my keys and told that my van is either in the yard or just outside on the road. I pointed out actually it’s parked on another road 200 yards away and I don’t appreciate a main dealer not taking care of my vehicle. I asked if my vehicle had been damaged by another vehicle would their insurance cover my vehicle whilst in their care. Unfortunately not it would be your own insurance not ours. Do I expect too much from businesses or is it a sad reflection of our modern society |
