Hello, I have just signed up to the Club.
I bought my 1994 Terrano II over 2 and a half years ago. It is a grey import, having had the speedo dial changed but the odometer still reads kms! My current problem is that my left headlight only is permanently on with all switches off. I have to disconnect the battery to leave the vehicle parked! Where can I get a wiring diagram for the vehicle to try to analyse the problem, or has anyone got any bright ideas? |

Has to be chaffed wiring, if it were me, I'd start at the headlamp itself, work out which colour wires do what for the problematic bulb and go backwards from there. Get yourself a Stanley knife and slit the outer sheathing protecting all the cables and trace the wiring back as far as you need to before you find the fault. You'll find it's something silly like a large heavy object has been trapping it against a sharp edge and has just wore through the wiring after a while and now as a consequence you're picking up a constant live feed from somewhere. Stick with it and shout uo if you're stuck. There's usually access to the workshop manuals from the downloads link in the top right but I'm not sure that the links are fixed still?

Check contacts are releasing on the dim dip relay which operates the lights when the vehicle is parked at half power.

Left headlight permanently on
Banshee and Terrano Steve
Thanks for prompt replies. On consideration I realised that a switching problem was the most likely cause, so I removed the headlamp relay and refitted it... problem cured! What confused me was that only the left headlamp was affected. By the way the vehicle had been garaged for two months unused, so it could have been sulking. I had a fault on the left rear indicator, which turned out to be poor contact between the bulb and bulb holder. Located in a harsh environment lowdown getting the tail wash from the wheel. Regarding the workshop manuals I could not find the "downloads link on top right". Is there a temporary problem with this? Appreciate your assistance. Dave |

Yeah the connections are poor at the rear.
Reason why you can’t see download section is because you need to be full membership for that. Good fix on the headlamp relay. |
