It may be a bargaining tool when buying parts...
Tell the suppliers that there are only 4 of your car left in the country and 200 sets of shock absorbers, how many do they think they will ever sell

Looking at this site got me thinking(always a dangerous thing). How dose the rarity of a car affect its value. I'm sure every one on here drives there particular car because they love it and the fun they get from ownership of it and I think that's it! . A car that has a following even when they are relatively easy to fined has the potential of becoming a classic.Where as a car that is bought for its fuel economy or it speciousness will inevitable fade in to obscurity .
Case in point: In 1980 I bought my second car, a two year old VW Passat. It cost me £2400. But I nearly dide't buy it,as next to it on the forecourt was a 1972 VW Carmon Ghea for £2200. But being a sensible young lad I was not swayed by the sporty lines of the Carmon and whent for the newer Passat .
If I still had the passat it could be worth £250 if it was in good nic.
The Carmon Ghea would be worth 10K-20k depending on condition
