Default OMG!

... I have just realised that the Terrano MOT is due first week in June

Is there anything that I can check/prep before it goes in? The tester is tame so any very minor stuff I will be able to do.

As the Terrano was a sort of hand-me-down, it all depends on how much the MOT costs to whether I keep or break it.

Have a poke underneath, RUST RUST AND MORE RUST.

Make it clean, usually puts the tester at ease if its clean too

It's .easy to forget the simple things, all bulbs, including the number plate lights and side lights, get someone to stand behind the car while you press the brake pedal to check the brake lights. Make sure there is water in the windscreen washers and the horn is working. (Mine failed it's Spanish MOT last year because the washer bottle was empty, no such thing as advisories over here!)
